Escaping the Grip of Fear
Calm Minds, Restful Nights
Panic Attacks occur during the day as frightening, heart-pounding bouts of terror.
In the night, in the form of terrifying nightmares. There is rarely an obvious link to former incidents that held such fright and terror, but you can be sure that they exist.
Case Example: A new SHEN client reported having had increasingly terrifying nightmares for several years and had recently begun having full-blown panic attacks while driving. It was necessary for her to pull over to a parking spot and wait several minutes for the attack to subside before continuing. No memory ever surfaced. She had consulted several medical specialists, but none were able to determine a cause.
During her fourth SHEN session, she became agitated. When the session was over, she sat up and excitedly said, “I remembered something I had forgotten! When I was 13 years old, I masturbated the night before I was to be confirmed in the Catholic Church and hadn’t gone to confession before I was confirmed.”
Even though she had split from the Catholic Church many years before her attacks began, the childhood hellfire and damnation worry she experienced then had remained, hidden, deep inside. That was the last of her Panic Attacks and Nightmares.
